Men's Health Physiotherapy
At Surf Coast Physiotherapy & Pilates, we offer specialised Men’s Health Physiotherapy to address a range of pelvic health concerns. While many of our clients are women, we warmly welcome men and want to reassure you that you are not alone—many men experience similar symptoms, and we’re here to help in a supportive and respectful environment. We understand these issues can feel difficult to talk about, and you're welcome to bring a partner or support person along if that helps you feel more at ease.
Whether you're experiencing bladder or bowel issues, pelvic pain, or challenges with erectile function, our highly trained physiotherapists provide evidence-based treatment tailored to your needs.
Men’s pelvic health is often overlooked, yet it plays a crucial role in overall well-being.
Our physiotherapists provide targeted treatment for:
The pelvic floor muscles support bladder, bowel, and sexual function. Dysfunction can lead to pain, incontinence, and sexual health issues. Our treatments help restore muscle strength, coordination, and relaxation where needed. We can help treat symptoms of;
- Urgency and frequent urination
- Constipation and difficulty emptying
- Urgency and bowel incontinence
- Soiling and loss of control
If your erectile dysfunction is related to pelvic floor dysfunction, physiotherapy can help by improving muscle control, blood flow, and relaxation techniques.
- Pre- and post-prostate surgery rehabilitation
- Vacuum pump therapy for tissue health
There is good quality evidence to show that engaging with pelvic floor physio prior to surgery can reduce incontinence more quickly (Centemero et al. 2010). Limitations of starting pelvic floor muscle training without proper instruction can result in incorrect technique, worsen symptoms, create new symptoms, can reduce confidence and lead to more expense on treatment in the longer term.
Affecting many men, Peyronie’s disease is characterised by painful curvature of the penis due to fibrous plaque buildup.
Our evidence-based physiotherapy treatments include:
We treat pain affecting the testes, perineum, penis, and anus, which may stem from nerve irritation, sport, tension, or postural dysfunction. We also treat Coccyx, Pubic Symphysis, and SI Joint Pain which can have pelvic floor involvement.
Lower back, hip, and pelvic pain can stem from poor pelvic floor function, altered movement patterns, or muscle tightness.
Our physiotherapy approach includes:
At Surf Coast Physio & Pilates, we take a holistic approach to men’s health, ensuring you receive a tailored treatment plan that fits your lifestyle and goals.
Our evidence-based strategies aim to restore function, alleviate pain, and improve your overall quality of life.
Many of our therapists have completed the Post Graduate Certificate in Pelvic Floor Physiotherapy at the University of Melbourne.
